Retro fitting remote central locking Mk4 Fiesta

Hi all,

My mate has a 1.25 fiesta with central locking and wants to make it remote. Doing some research we found it needs a interior lamp with the remote eye in it and obviusly the key fob. Is there anything else anyone knows that will need doing? Ie wiring, etc?

How old is it? If it's got PATS, you'll need Ford to reprogram the fob for your immobiliser as well.

Its a 98 "R" reg. Programming the key should be ok. If its the same as my focus you can do it from the ignition.

You can only reprogam PATS/immobiliser if you've got the red master key, otherwise you have to go to Ford to get it done.

Programming the remote locking and the PATS are two different things.

Yea, I think whats hes going to do is have the fob for the remote and then just his single key for the ignition. Then get a second key cut for the fob by ford at a later day.
