I purchased an old Sony Bravia klv S19a10 off a well known auction site, with the intended use of getting a snes/n64/ps2 to use with it. My own fault, but I didn't bother testing it at the time, and 6-months later when I have come to use it the tv is not working.

No power light on the tv, so it appears the power supply is the issue. I have tried finding a replacement but unsurprisingly, for an old tv, that is a struggle. Looked for local repairs but almost everyone turns down old CRT tvs.

I guess my options are keep looking for someone who may be able to repair it, source a new (to me) CRT tv, or go down the route of these upscalers which seem horrendously expensive.

For those who still use old consoles, what would you recommend?

Sourcing CRT Tvs seems a real pain in itself (though I appreciate I've dropped myself in it by not checking it worked when it was delivered!).

Definitely get a CRT TV. That original TV you mentioned is an LCD and it probably wouldn't have worked great for old consoles anyway, depending on what you were wanting to play.

280p and 480i etc don't work great on 720p or 1080p old screens.

CRT all the way or if you find one cheap enough, a PVM or BVM.

Thanks for the reply.

Looking at Sony Trinitron's, a lot are going for £350-600. My concern is getting another naff one and it being very difficult/expensive to fix in the future. For that price point would I be better off getting a retrotink?

I just use a retrotink5x for mine.

As much as I would like a crt, I just don't have room. 5x does me fine and the games look great. I paid £275ish for my 5x in 2022.
