Too much time and money to invest for the same thing over and over.

Saying that I got the Astro Bot platinum in 2 days, but it was enjoyable with little challenge (it's biggest issue imo)
The last time I was heavily into gaming was the XBOX 360 era. I also had a gaming PC before and during said era. I've been gaming since I was about 5. Started out on Atari 2600 and Amstrad and Commodore C64. Had and played literally every console from then to now. Must've played thousands of games. But I've genuinely quit gaming a few years back. The magic has just gone. Maybe it's just age. Who knows.

Yeah I'm as far back as games like Roland on the ropes and Chuckie Egg. I remember playing Centipede in my mates room. It's a bygone era.

Blimey, I thought I was old! :p The Roland suite of games were the first games I played on my first 'real' computer that was the CPC464!
Remember games like Bomb Jack? I was blown away seeing it in colour for the first time (I had a green screen)
Games I remember:

Oh mummy
That weird Bruce Lee game (Amstrad)
Magic World Dizzy
Flimbos Quest
Two Crude Dudes
Double Dragon
Golden Axe
Alien Vs Predator Arcade

I'm busy right now but I'll add more later. I'm 42 btw,we are not old by any stretch.

I remember Bomb Jack very well, as I do Harrier Attack, Exelon (not sure of the spelling), Nemisis, Salamander etc. I hated Dizzy as the collision detection was so poor but iirc that was the Codemaster (Darling brothers) first series of games!

Flimbos Quest was beautiful on colour monitor! Frame rates for the side scroller were very poor but it looked so good iirc. Best looking game on the CPC was without a doubt Gryzor :)

I'm 49 :D
Was it Amiga or C64 flimbos quest was on? I got a semi interesting story about how my mate lent me his computer lol

PS5 be damned

I loved Oh Mummy and the Dizzy games, got them on Evercade at the moment. As well as a few others in that list.
On Magic Land Dizzy, I'd always get stuck in a pit with a genie. I could never figure out how to get out of it. I was only about 5 though. Still great memories. This discussion maybe deserves it's own thread no?

Treasure Island Dizzy had me stuck. I was 8 at the time. Wish I still had my Amstrad. Stupidly binned it 11 years ago. Worth a fortune now. Was the 464 Plus with colour monitor.

Yeah it probably could have a thread of its own.
Are they worth a fortune for real? Man,my parents moved me from Scotland to England when I was about 9 or 10 and they refused to take my 464 with us. I still remember begging them to bring it. Had drawers full of tapes as well :( I wonder if anyone saved it or it got binned :/

The plus model and colour monitor certainly are as they are more rare. I looked on Ebay recently as was tempted to get one

I had about 80 games on tape back then. I've still got about 12 in a box. No idea how they survived.
I'm sure you know but you should probably copy the games to fresh tapes just to preserve them. Even if your original deteriorates you'll have a back up copy. God I remember going to the corner shop with my pocket money and just randomly picking a game at 5 or 6 years old. I still remember the price lol £2.99 for each tape :p

Anyway........... About that PS5…...... or Amstrad. Time flies fellas. Cherish it.
