Retro gaming problem with widescreen monitor

Hey guys.

I am running a 2 year old budget laptop (Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo L7320GW) - only difference to the stock system is i added 1GB of RAM and a bigger hard disk.

It has a VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP integrated graphics card, which powers the 1280x800 widescreen monitor.

Now, my problem is that I am trying to play Transport Tycoon Deluxe for Windows (about the only game the rubbish built in graphics can handle!) - unfortunately when I try and run the game in full screen mode it doesn't display correctly. I'm not just talking stretched out of the correct aspect ratio - I could handle that - I mean full on corruption with only 1/4 of the screen (the top left quarter) showing anything at all.

The question is simple: is there anything I can do / run / change to get the game working in full screen as the window is so small it's pretty hard to play.

The only useful setting I have found anywhere so far is this:

www.cavaye.com/stuff/expand.jpg

but as you can see it is grayed out and I can't change it.....

AFAIK the graphics drivers are up to date, however they are dated 2006 - but I can't find any more recent ones for this card.

Thanks in advance!

Are you actually using the original transport tycoon without add-ons? If so, I would download openTTD and install that. Same game, different code (and it does require the original TTD for the graphics etc) :)

Thanks to both of you - that widescreen forum has a link for running openTTD in widescreen so i will try out both suggestions simultaneously! Thanks again.

EDIT: Thank you very much both of you. openTTD is awesome :) bring on the retro gaming! There any other games with open source analogues like that? I'm thinking SimCity, Theme Park, Theme Hospital, etc?
