Scanned this forum a couple of times and was quite surprised there was no dedicated "Retro/Vintage/Rare PC Hardware Collection" thread (unless I suck at searching). Maybe not so many crazies around collecting electronic debris nowadays, but still, are you kidding me OcUKers? ;)

So if you've got any piece of hardware that you would like to share with me and others (graphics cards, microprocessors, motherboards, sound cards or memory modules etc.), take this opportunity and post your picture(s) here.

I would prefer if you could avoid using oversized images wrapped in "spoiler" tags and instead post some friendly size ones, i.e. 1280x720 etc. to keep it nice and tidy here. Feel free to drop a few sentences to tell us some interesting technical or historical info and the reason why you've kept your component(s).

Looking forward to reading your posts guys, fingers crossed this thread will do well

OK, I am done with talking, thanks to everyone who will take part and now, let me fire this thread up with some of my pieces. All pictures I post here are my own unless I state otherwise.

ATI Radeon 9800XT 256MB was battling against Nvidia's FX 5950 Ultra 256MB. In 2004, when the battle was taking place, each of those monsters would set you back £300 and more, depending on manufacturer.

I used to have a 9800XT. What a monster of a card when it came out. I had a pretty crappy computer at the time though so I didn't get the most out of it. It did play the games I wanted to play at the time nice and well though.

He he, also had a 9600XT, felt like it's the best GPU I've ever had. Damn thing lasted me until a 4850/GTS 450 (the 4850 died and I got the 450 from the retailer). I'm still sad about ATI. :(

I keep anything that still works pc wise I have a few pc for retro stuff but the things I have spare with no use for are about 4 3dfx voodoo cards and they all work

I still have a socket 754 Athlon 64 3400+ pc still in regular use as my weather station/older games pc. It consists of:-

Athlon 64 3400+
Asus K8S-MX m-atx motherboard
2x 1Gb DDR800
ATI 800Pro
250 Gb IDE Hdd
IDE DVDRW
CM Storm case
My trusty old Zalman ZM750 HP psu.

Yes, 3Dfx is a collector's "must have" :-). I don't think I'll ever own a Voodoo5 6000 since they are really rare and precious. Voodoo5 5500 are not hard to find though. I managed to get this beauty, also quite hard to find:

Basically two Voodoo2 12MB cards in SLI on one PCB. SLI in this case means Scan-Line Interleave as opposed to Nvidia's SLI for Scalable Link Interface.

I got a 3dfx voodoo 3 I think it is, its the very first card that needed extra power cable to work and i'm still using it atm I am working out how to watercool the thing ;) as a little side hobby that and a Pentium 3 cpu

Good to know, I had no idea about Voodoo3 being the first power hungry graphics ever. Nice hobby though, remember seeing accelerated Unreal and Turok for the first time, what an unforgettable experience that was.
