Great clip, I must have missed that one along the line. The one I saw was all the old ones getting completely trounced on the track, like old Mexicos and stuff. Rally cars old and new or something.

lovely clip, GOOOOOOO COSSIE :D loving the memories of jeremy's ford praising for weeks on end, right up until about 2hours into him having the gt :D

You just cant beat older cars!

Just so much more character then newer cars.

'Character' is annoying rattles, the worry of whether it'll actually start, and that inadequate braking system.

Character is a crutch for people trying to excuse the inadequacies of their older vehicles ;)

No character isnt annoying rattles, worrying whether it starts or inadequate braking. My Corrado G60 doesnt rattle, starts first time everytime and has decent brakes, discs all round and is a hell of a lot better than a boring new car that you will see everywhere you go.

There isnt a older car in that vid i wouldnt have over a mondeo :D

Your Corrado is merely another clinical German car, it has no more character than a new Golf.

It has as much character as a Golf of today will have in 15 years time, the only thing thats changed between when it was new and now is that it looks old, has some scratches, and a worn dated interior.

This is why the whole OMG OLD CARS WIN is so funny, in 15 years time you'll all be swooning over the stuff you scoff at today.

its gets a lot more attention than any mondeo, its fast, still looks very good for its age and although mine only has cloth you can get them with full leather and aircon. All the mod cons of a new car.

Clinical or not, its so fun :D

wouldnt you class BMW just another clinical german car??

I'm willing to bed that an ST200 will get a tad more attention than an old Corrado but this thread will go on for ever if we dispute this so we'll agree to disagree.

I'm not saying its a bad car, far from it, that would be stupid of me to try and claim the Corrado isn't very good becuase it is a good car, it just isn't any more special/better than new cars and isnt suddenly awesome becuase its old.

wouldnt you class BMW just another clinical german car??

Yup, but you don't see me going around saying OMG THE E39!!! IT HAS CHARACTER!!! ITS SO MUCH BETTAR THAN TODAYS NEW ONES LOL!

Now, what I WILL say is that I prefer the E39 to the new Bangle BMW's. But to claim its a better car? Thats just daft, I'd be mixing up personal preference with raw ability... something you old car guys do all the time ;)

Why have you brought up Mondeo's twice when no-one else has? Or is it just a cheap shot at fox?

And I seriously doubt that a corrado gets "attention" when just parked up.

Some old cars do have charecter, and appeal. A corrado isn't even that old, its just now beyond being new enough to be expensive.

Im not claiming older cars are better then the new cars. Or old car are OMG COOL!!!!!!
I like cars for what they are really, the MR2 MK1 ive been told handles best of all 3 MK1s, is lighter and is more fun to drive.

Thats why i like that.

I like the E30 because it seems to be the face of BMW. When a lot of people think of BMWs (that dont know much about cars) they seem to think of that model.

But i like the New M5s aswell.
And i like Every Subaru Impreza model(bug eye put me off a bit but it grew on me)

I like the New golf over the old golf though.

I have a mix of cars i like and dont like from old and new.
I dont want to limit my self just because something doesnt come with power windows.

Saying all that. Holdens and Australian built fords are homogay

Because me and fox are always arguing about new vs old and vw vs ford. Fox was saying that people who say older cars have character are covering up the fact that they are just crap. I disagree so i was comparing an older car to the car that fox owns. Simple as. He knows that im impressed by what you can get for your money when it comes to mondeos and knows that it was no "cheap shot" at him.

And believe me, they do get attention just parked up. I came out of the supermarket the other day for some guy to come to my mates C and tell us how nice it was etc. then he got into his Focus ST and drove off.

Yes, but the E39, although older is a hell of a lot better than a lot of the newer cars that come out. Just because a car is older doesnt mean its crap, that was the point i was trying to get across.

It doesn't mean the opposite either though, there's a LOT of crap old cars :D

True, look at the 2CV :D

I just prefer the older cars, once a car gets to the sort of age that they are in that video there isnt much left to know about them. The good ones will still be about, have very good clubs and you will already know all the problems you can get with them. The ones worth having stand out, the MR2 for instance. Not my cup of tea in the looks dept but a great older car, good clubs with very knowledgable members. A future classic, and a hell of a lot better than the majority of newer cars.
