Hi All

I did have a google but all I could find was details referring to a seat cupra 14 year on wards, I have a Seat Leon (yes i know the Cupra is pretty much the same) MK3 14 plate, The car itself doesn't have android auto or sat nav built in.

I'm looking into possible swapping the current infotainment if possible to one that includes all the above however a) not sure if possible b) where to start looking

I was wondering if the nice folk here who have more experiencing in changing such items may be able to point me in the right direction

I think you’ll struggle here mate. You’re better off on an enthusiast forum specific to your vehicle.

I do quite a lot to my cars and always turn to their respective forums for guides and advice.

If it’s anything like VW and Skoda systems then you’ll likely struggle to retrofit a “better” OEM unit on a car that modern as all of the MIB and MIB2 based systems use component protection to match the serial of the infotainment with the serial of the BCM/CAN gateway and the VIN of the car.

There are companies out there who can remove CP, or have access to VAG systems that can activate parts legitimately with HQ, but neither are cheap options.

In all honesty, the best course of action will likely be a 3rd party unit designed to look OEM, but running Android.

It depends how much you want to pay you can get MIB 2.5 with the 9.2" screen for around 1k unlocked. That's what I would fit as I like keeping it OEM.

Worth keeping in mind you can remove it when you sell the car and get the majority of the cost back.

Cheers for all the input, i didnt even think they would have too much security on them just due to nature of what they do, I thought they would just use generic codes so to speak
