Hi All,

I currently have a Raspberry Pi 2 Model B running Kodi.

I'm thinking of getting a second SD card and running RetroPie. I was just wondering if there was a massive difference in performance when running Retropie comparing a Pi3 with a Pi2?

I'm also wanting to re-use a PS2 controller with a USB interface to get the controller working, should this be OK?

Cheers

Pi3 will get you up to N64 standard (ok) whereas the pi2 will struggle there.

Not too sure about the Ps2 pad but PS3 pads work with a generic blutooth dongle if you can get a second hand one on the cheap.

Yeah you can get a Playstation to USB adaptor that does work. I have a pi 2B and that works fine with everything below N64/PS era.

If you are wanting to push to the 32bit machines etc then a Pi3 is needed really, but will still struggle in places, I'm busy waiting for a updated pi so I can finish my ps1 retropi set up.

I think the makers of the pi say that the pi3 is 4x the power of the pi2 and 10x the power of the original pi model b.

The pi 3 also has built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth if the 2 doesn't.

I had a bit of slow down in certain games on the PS1 emulator on the ras pi 2 (noticed it most in tekken 3) The 3 board fixed them slow downs.

If you don't plan on running loads of games on PS1 or N64 emulator I wouldn't bother and keep the one you have.

@ZG002 Where will it struggle? I was hoping to be able to play Playstation 1 games on it without to much of a problem.

It's just on certain games in fps apparently, but worse with some N64 games. Pi3 for PS1 should be on the whole decent.
