Hey,

I just updated my graphics card and so thought I'd give Crysis another go, since its about 3 or 4 years since I lasted played it on an x1950xt.

Anyways - Awesome. It's still fresh and graphically astonishing even now. The gameplay is pretty sweet too.

I cant remember it being this good the first time around.

Maybe now that the technology is out to play it at decent settings (unless you were like a millionaire back in the day) you might want to have another go too.

Does anyone know if Crysis Warhead was more of the same, or was it a bit cut down graphically and requirements wise?

I also heard warhead had some horrible protection system going on. Does that still install if it is bought through STEAM?

Cheers.

The developers have also claimed that due to further optimizations of CryEngine2, Crysis Warhead performs better than the original Crysis. In their review, IGN confirmed that Crysis Warhead looks graphically better and runs better than the original Crysis.
...
EA recently announced that the game's minimum requirements are nearly identical to the minimum requirements of the original Crysis (except for the HDD capacity, which is now 15 GB). However, the "Gamer" and "Enthusiast" ("High" and "Very High", respectively, in the original Crysis) configurations require less powerful machines than before (as IGN confirmed in their review), allowing a user to run the "Enthusiast" settings in DirectX 9 mode (and on Windows XP).

Yes.

I've only recently bought Crysis and Crysis Warhead. I've played Crysis for only a small amount of time, and it does look a very good game. I can't wait to start playing it properly.

I think crysis is better than people give it credit for. Strangely enough I popped it in my mates new rig last night. Still looks amazing! after that i went to continue black ops and it just looked empty

Theres some extremely memorable parts in both crysis and warhead to be honest. The one that stands out the most if your playing on max everything is the assault on the beach at night with the AA guns shooting down aircraft and an entire army of cpu guys with you.

Really enjoyed both crysis and warhead and have played through both of them numerous times.

I'm getting 5870 tomorrow gonna go buy both crysis games and just fap to the graphics for about 2 hours per game.

Crysis is an excellent game. It's a shame that even several years after its release no game has come close to its visual fidelity, or even the limited freedom it gives you to approach missions any way you wish.

Saying that I didn't like Warhead anywhere as much - it was much more linear, the graphic optimisations just led to more pop-in, and the pre-rendered movies were nowhere near a good as the in-game rendered ones in Crysis.

The fact that Crysis just had a CD check and Warhead had limited activations just soured it too - especially as they kept the DRM quiet until just before release, so I couldn't cancel my pre-order.

You can remove the restrictions once you've used the 5 installations up on Warhead, just get the EA de-authorise [or something] tool.

My favourite bit in Crysis was when the mountain began to collapse and break up. The sense of scale and distance was pretty awesome.

Got to the last level and lost interest, otherwise had played through the rest and rather enjoyed it. Don't recall the hit detection on the enemies being that efficient though. I prefered Warhead and yes, it did run better - but then I had upgraded my rig by the time I tried out the second game. :) Probably will pick it up at some point, lost my game through an issue with EA, so will either buy a hard copy or maybe purchase through good old Steam.

Is that the part where you get a massive draft of wind coming straight at you through the trees?

metro 2033 has better grapgics than cryis ;)

im suprised my 460 1gb runs both crysis warhead and metro maxed out with no AA smoothly :D

It is playable on my PC, but I've never got past the first level as I can't run it on max, and by playable, I still mean there is some slow down.

I'm saving it for my next PC upgrade :)

I bought the box set when I upgraded a while back...

Never really played any of them TBH. I got a 4870 1GB. The game keeps crashing whenever I tried to change the graphic settings (which is kinda important with this game...)

Did the re-install, try different drivers etc no joy....

I've only recently come to PC gaming after years of consoles and I've got to say, I played Crysis, in full enthusiast spec on my system and was absolutly stunned at how good the detail was

Its unbelieveable that we settle and buy the crap thats produced today
