recently bought a nice netgear router from the *oi competitor!*,

paid 50 pounds for a netgear wpn824 as advertised on their website,

anyways got the product home to notice that my receipt and a sticker on the bottom of the box which i had not noticed identify the product as preowned (which i didnt mind)

now after 2 hours on the phone to netgear technical it appears i have a fault with the product.

anyone know my rights in regards to returning this for either replacement or refund,

the website advertising for the product did not indicate it was pre-owned i paid the full price as per the website price for the router so feel a bit peeved that more than likely its been faulty then returned then sold on to me at full whack

where do i stand ocuk and what are the legalities?

well what an interesting trip to oops competitor(nasty *oi competitor!* place)

Upon entering the fine and shiny *oi competitor!* shop (glasgow finnieston branch) I approached the worlds most unhelpful unknowledgable person "DONNA" after explaining that my poor netgear router was faulty and i required a replacement
i was informed that ooh this is preowned we dont change them,
I proceded to advise her of my rights under the sale of goods act and explained that this fine netgear product was not indeed fit for sale and as such i was requesting a replacement or refund, to which i was grudgingly told to go get another one off the shelf and she would put it through.
So off i trotted to find that all the wpn 824 routers for sale are indeed pre-owned and have the sticker placed on the "bottom" of the box (perhaps they hope that all customers will be as foolish as i and not notice,
So my replacement is being processed and she informs me that the price has wend up so i will have to pay the extra 10 pounds difference, i baulk and advise her that this would be most illegal of her company to do this. and i enquire if i can keep the free usb adaptor (wireless dongle) that came with the other modem )

Donna then afixes me with the gaze of death and says this box doesnt have it on the sleeve so no, so after much humming and hawing i go back to the shelf locate the oonly remaining netgear router(wpn824) with the free usb sticker on the front and return to the desk.imagine my horror when i am told that this model identical to mine(i retuend a wpn824) whilst still being pre-owned is actually 90 pounds and i have to pay the dirrefence, i enquire as to how 2 identical routers can have a 40 pounds price difference same model both pre-owned (btw pc world website lists them now at 59.99 to which i am told " ah this is the i model it has extra bandwidth" i explain that if i do not recieve 50 pounds in my hand within the next 2 minutes i will be phoning trading standards and a tabloid newspaper. quickly handed 50 pounds and ushered out the store.

popped 5 minutes down the road to the local computer place,
bought a tplink generic chinese router for a mere 22 pounds plugged it in and up pops a router confid screen identical to the netgear one, as far as i can tell its a netgear clone. working perfect and posting from it now :)

moral of the story *oi competitor!* deserve to die :)

Can't believe they wanted to charge you the difference too for an identical replacement!

aah but it was the I model and had extra bandwidth :)

stupid woman

i feel a e-mail or phone call of complaint coming on here
