Hopefully this should kick the developers bums to produce games that dont need patching every 5 minutes.
Then again, perhaps it could drive developers to take longer to produce games or even not produce them at all.

EDIT: This should have been in the computer section, but could technically apply to console games since they get patched from time to time I guess! Mods I will leave it up to you :)

1.buy game
2.complete game
3.return game for full retail price "uhhhh...yesss, there was a 'bug', can i have my money back...?"
4.???
5.profit!!!

EU are stupid, pointless money grabbing sods. if there was an option on the voting form for pulling out of the EU i'd be choosing that one!

As much as I see the point of such, so we can actually buy games that aren't 'rushed' for release, I can see release dates for EU countries to be later than the Aussies (a country renown for slow releases), just to satisfy the EU nose poking.

So as it stands, I'd say no to such an introduction and rather have initial buggy releases but patched up games (which stands at around 4/10 game releases or 8/10 in the cases of EA Games, IMO of course.)

I think that length of return is going to be an open invitation to abuse, however, something needs to be done about buggy games.

It's a joke that because someone can sell you something on a disc, that they can slap it together in any roundabout fashion and know that a return from the customer will never happen.

I've not had this too often thankfully but sometimes I would have returned if the path to refund wasn't completely shut off.

From how I am reading it if software/pc games also carry this policy it will allow more piracy the EU should be targeting games that are released then on launch day have patches straight away to fix problems i noticed footy manager is one of the worst for this.

this shouldn't have anything to do with customer.

You guys should have played Gothic 3 bugged as hell and it never got fixed because the companies that produced it split up. So it was left to the fan community to fix the game. It's a shame because I think the Gothic series is more entertaining then the Elder Scrolls Series and Gothic 3 felt like an amazing game the times it actually worked.

I have returned games to...a rental shop that has a 6 month warranty on used games.

Just take it home, complete it and then take it back saying something is wrong.
