I need to return a phone to Orange as the screen has a deadspot on it. I bought it 2nd hand but have the receipt. What I don't know is whether the original purchaser would have had to give his name when buying it and if so whether this will cause any problems for me when I take it back.

Has anyone taken a phone back to Orange with a fault? What is the procedure and are they likely to ask for a name and check it against the original buyer somehow?

thanks

Usually buyer information is recorded against the phone.

Also, they're perfectly within their rights to do nothing as the rights with the retailer are with the original purchaser.

Orange won't touch it I don't think unless the original buyer does it, you might have better luck sending it to the manufacturer.
