after eliminating all the booting problems i had, i finally found out my motherboard has died. which now my HIS 3850 AGP card is now useless (only received it yesterday) an finding a AGP motherboard is near impossible.

would OCUK accept me returning this card and exchanging it for a PCI-E one as ill have to buy a 939 PCI-E motherboard now also.

been trying to phone them for last hour but cant get through so thought id post here for the mean time.

They should take it back, but they could charge you a re-stocking fee.

Why not go core2 instead of amd?

Supports Dual Channel DDRII667 (DDRII x 2 DIMM slots) and DDR400 (DDR x 2 DIMM slots

LOl, I thought it did.

Indeed. Unless you have one of the top end 939 a64 x2 44/4800s you're going to see a huge performance bump if you went to core 2. That and, trying to find a decent 939 mobo (think the only one on ocuk is a cheap-o asrock matx one) new will be difficult and expensive unless you go on the 'bay.

I'd suggest getting one of the cheaper gigabyte boards, like the ds3l and coupling it with an e2160 and some nice geil ddr2 sticks.

i got an AMD 4000+ atm tho, don't really wanna go intel cause never really known much about them, if i go for the above mobo what CPU would u recommend?

if u got some time mate could u spec me quickly and link the items here so can roughly get an idea of how much?

thanks

thanks you two,

the AMD 4000+ is brand new also so ill send that back aswell, aint even opened either, then ill order.

cheers :)

thing is now what PCI-E card? roughly around same price as the HIS AGP one tho :)

looks good, is nvidia the way to go now?

been with ATI for last 5-6 years and not upgraded my PC in over 3 years lol

IMO Nvidia are producing the better cards atm but ATI have comparable mid-range cards to the 8800 series for a similar if not cheaper price.
