returning pc gamer

I haven't gamed on pc for about 5 years. Since then just been using a PS5 but i'd like to get back into it mainly as i miss playing day of defeat source ( i have a macbook so no chance of playing it currently)

Main uses

1. Gamings (obvs!) as a general idea though - I've played Horizon zero dawn on PS5 but want to play the sequel on PC at higher than PS5/Pro settings
2. Day of defeat source although i know this would run on any pc these days
3. Python programming using PyCharm/VS Code

budget £900 but can stretch to 1k if need be.
I will be using a 1440p monitor
