Returning to WOW

Hi,

As title I want to return to wow, I have not played since 2009 I know have a battlenet account and I can see my character when I visit this link

But it states Character not available...

I spoke to wow support via phone and they say the character is still there, So how do I start playing?

I have downloaded the game client and signed in but it does not show my old character?

do you mean you can login but at the join realm screen you don't see your char?

Online character profiles don't show for chars that have been inactive for a period of time.

The char will still be there, assuming you have logged into the correct account AND selected the right realm, which by the looks of your link is Ghostlands.

Yes - Downloaded the game client and signed in to my account.. But the character does not show?

It's showing me choose a character and customize etc.

Are you logging into the realm/server your character is based on?

Make sure you click change realm and choose the realm your character was on, it's probably defaulted to a low population realm now.

I don't know if this is still true, but I was told years ago that Blizz will guarantee your character for 6 month's of inactivity only.

Another question loosely based on the OP. If you've not played for at least 2 expansion packs, do you still have to buy them all or do you just need the latest one?

Blizz must have a lot of customers who pop back for a couple of months whenever they do a major patch.

It would be poor business to delete inac characters.

I think you need to buy them all to access all the content up to 90. Saying that though, if you have an active friend/forumite that can send you a Scroll of Resurrection I'm pretty sure your account gets upgraded to Cataclysm for free (along with a free level 80, realm transfer to that of said friend/forumite and 7 days of gametime).

Yea u need to login to the realm you had your old chars on! A lot has changed since 09 so you should have a lot of fun.

Wrong realm... Your right, I had so many issues with there mail servers not working and calling them.. Getting locked out that I over looked the simple as normal.

Total myth.

It's not a total myth (I don't know if it's exactly true but I do remember reading something similar in the T&C, most MMOs have them), BUT that doesn't mean they'll delete it after you haven't logged in for 6 months. It means that it's garuanteed for 6 months. There's a big difference.

If for some reason they decide to delete characters for some reason, they will start with the ones that haven't been logged in in the longest.
