Good afternoon

I purchased a bike 3 weeks ago which I have come to realise was a terrible idea given my need to find a new place to live, so need the cash for other things.

What are my chances of being able to return the bike for a refund? It's not been ridden and thus is in the same condition as when i bought it.

What do you think, aside from the fact I'm terrible with money!

Thanks. Rob

Halfords have always been good with returns for me. Even returning a 32MM socket I used once to remove a thermostat and little white lied it was the wrong size to return it. Think I even returned a silicone car cleaning blade after using it once saying 'it just doesn't work' which to be fair it didn't.

a 3 week old bike in showroom condition? Try it...

If they have a 28 day return policy and its quite obvious the bikes not been used I can't see them having a major issue with refunding it if you go in and be nice about it.

Go in and try and return it. What's the worst that can happen?

You could claim you bought it as a present for someone but another family member had already bought them one?

I have a feeling the returns is only up to 14 days (i used to work there in the bike section... eeek).

As long as you havent ridden it you should be fine though any way. If there is problems speak to the manage.

I returned my two day old bike from halfords, I made the same mistake as you! So I phoned the shop and they said to bring it in for inspection and was refunded the full amount!

I had a lighter socket tyre inflator thing from there for at least half a year, the box was battered from being in my boot. I took it back without a reciept or anything and as soon as I mentioned that the plug had melted in the socket they gave me a new one straight away. :D

So they replaced it under warranty? That's different to what the OP is asking?

Used to work for them when I was in my teens. Same store they might do if you're polite. Different store, no chance.

As long as you have the reciepts and don't wheel it about outside to get it back there it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I had an issue with an item bought from halfords - didn't have a reciept, but did have a credit card statement and they refunded it, so if you have that they may accept it.

It is a 28 day return policy on everything apart from sat nav, baby seats and gift vouchers.
As long as its not been used and you have the receipt you wont have a problem.

I bought some spark plugs for my car about 5 years ago. I found them in the shed a few weeks ago, took them into Halfords without a receipt and they scanned the barcode and refunded the current value.
