Returns, where do I stand!?

Okay so purchased a laptop yesterday,
It arrived today,
I hate how it looks (hidden well on website - looked better than IRL)
So anyway, I sign in, setup, install my antivirus, I am now on hour 10 of windows update and have not done a single thing!!!
It's inferior to my chromebook in everyway, from looks to speed to everything, I really though I wanted to go back to windows but instant regret, and in no way trying to offend anyone as I do respect and acknowledge windows has a hell of a lot going for it but just not for me anymore...

I want to take it back for a refund, but according to the policy it is now "used" even though its literally BRAND NEW not a day old yet...

Where do I stand?

If I do a full system recovery, and say its unused will they be able to tell?

OR

I could say its faulty as it has been updating for an unreasonable amount of time?

Its a hell of a lot I spent and I really want my money back...

Anyone have any good advice?

Thank you

CCR still has exemptions when it comes to opened software (sometimes covering PCs and laptops, etc.) and technically they can even have grounds for reducing the refund though many don't.

What would you say if it was you? Go for the reset PC and say brand new unused or be truthful and say set it up and had a change of heart?

largely irrelavent to be honest.

personally I would factory reset and just return it, i'm not sure you have to be *that* specific for return reason under DSR. :)

Yeah thats what I'm thinking, just worried they have some way of knowing that I "installed software" even though it'll have been wiped...
So when they say why do you want to return, what should I respond with?
Whats DSR sorry?

Sorry if I come across lame, this situation is making me really anxious =(

Can't really tell you what to do - pretty much any of your options are kind of hit and miss depending on how closely they can be bothered to inspect the return and what the specific store policies are, etc.

Some places the staff really can't be bothered and just process the return for an easy life other places are kind of hard on it.

Yeah true, so when they say "why do you want to return" - I'm just gonna say I had a change of heart and didn't like it in the flesh...
(and the system will have been reset to new)
So hopefully when they get it back it will look untouched?
