Ok....done some research and understand now. Basicly the two colored memory slots work together so i'll have 1 stick of memory in one of the other two slots that will work on it's own.....correct???

Steve.

Yes, you will need to use one stick in each of the white slots, put them in the blue slots, the chances the system will not boot.

Steve.

You need to be running either 2 sticks or 4 sticks of memory on the P55 chipset otherwise it will not run in dual channel mode.

The kits that include 3 (or 6) sticks of memory are designed for the X58 platform (triple channel memory).

Do all four sticks of memory have to be exactly the same? Gig wise i know they do, but what about brand??

Thanks.

No, but I wouldn't do it :p I'd try and stick to the same brand as kits are usually shipped as matched pairs. You'd also have the issues of different latencies voltages etc, better to stick to stuff that's known to work together properly.

You could always purchase the correct memory and send the triple channel kit back by DSR?

Distant Selling Act, you have 7 days to return the item.

Ask for a RMA number or see if they will allow you to swop, assuming you bought from Ocuk.
