Hi,

I'm house sitting my friends house for the week and want to connect my laptop to the internet using her wireless router. Thing is she cant remember the routers user and password or the network key itself.

However I do have access to her laptop which is connected to the router........is there anyway to reveal the network key being used on this laptop so I can then punch it into my own laptop ?

Laptop is running XP by the way.

Cheers

Probably in the registry somewhere? Though nicely encrypted probably.

I would try a few of the default user/passes for the routers webui 'admin' 'root' etc. Googling the model should get some results.

been down that road already, she's changed it from the default :/ I need an app that reveals characters hidden behind 'asteriks' if such a thing exists.

Or do it the easy way.

Go into the router using her laptop and give the router a new key. Make sure you reconnect her laptop and your flying.

They do not know the password to get into the router.

As I said, I'd just do a hard reset but after looking at the wzcook or whatever it's called :p

Yes there is a program that uncovers the password behind asterisks...I cant remember what its called or if it works in win xp.

too late////lol
