Not gonna hear the end of it, but I managed to reverse dead centre in to a lamp post :o Rear bumper seems undamaged, but the boot lid is bent up and the boot wont close.

Any idea how much Im looking at to get it repaired? The car is only an R reg Escort 1.6 zetec.

Ta :o :o :o :o

Got a photo?

boot, simply get a same colour one from a scrappy and fit yourself.

and well done :D..
bad luck though, how you manage it?

That sounds expensive, just from the boot not closing I'd say you've bent the back panel. I'd have a look inside the boot under the carpet to see if the floor is ok, hopefully it'll just need the back pulling out a bit in order to get the boot to close.

Went to pick up some computer stuff from freecycle from a guy. The house was on a corner set right back from the road with a dropped curb. Drove on to the driveway/path, loaded up, in reverse, checked side mirrors and rear view, didnt see anything started reversing back and bang :o

Stupid place to put a lamp post, right in the middle of a dropped curb. Oh well my bad, can't of checked properly. Lesson learnt!

Will get some pics tomorrow.

had a quick check of the boot under the carpet and couldnt see any dents, but could well be wrong as there was stuff in the boot. Back bump isnt damaged though which is weird.

check the supporting bar behind the back bumper. my mate did this and bumper looked fine but he had actually bent the bar behind the bumper.

How would I do that? Would I need to take the bumper off? If so how? Im not mechanically minded at all :(

Also broke so would this be something I can do, or shall I invest in a decent rope to keep tying it down :o

ALC: I didn't see it there.

BM: It's a lamp post ALC. It's not like its a packet of ******* peanuts, is it?

ALC: It was at a funny angle.

BM: It's behind you ALC. Whenever you reverse things come from behind you.

:D

arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh lol leave me alone, im gonna cry :(

meant to be taking the family to butlins minehead next week and im broke as it is :( :( :(

the only way to get it done cheap would be a scrappy its only 2-4 bolts plus wiper wiring so quick job

Not at all relevant but I just love it soo much :) :D

show a picture of where its bent. had an escort which was hit from behind and the boot would not close. sorted it out with a few hits from sledge hammer.

Gallon of petrol and a match can also work...

Obviously the bumper has been hit, but has deformed rather than shattering in Mondeo style.

The boot is probably a bit beyond salvation if you want to it look nice afterwards. I would get a boot from a breakers, fit it and check that it closes ok. If not, then the rear panel may have been bent in slightly, so you will need to apply some brute force and ignorance to push it back (or take it to body shop if the car is your P&J).

Yell.com for a local crap yard and get a replacement hatch.

Make sure it's a different colour though - you get extra points for disgusting colour clashing. :D
