My Mini Review:
This game for me is in the same league as Team Fortress & Saints Row 2 by that i mean there not meant to be taken seriously or made for the graphics, they are ment for pick it up & have some fun for a few hours. it is however not one of them games you will play all the time everyday(unlike TF2). its pick up & play put away games. it does however have some serious elements to it to the story is strange & draws me in to wanting to know more & finish it.

The Graphics Are Good for most part. the people are very detailed for amount there are, this is not to confused with Crysis Detailed. prototype has a GTA IV like look to the game, but prototype people AI is superior. the landscape including buildings Tree's lamposts are also detailed & vasty different around the city. However most Cars,Truck,Heli,Tanks do not look like they should be in the game at all. they are very bland & vector like they seem to have just picked one colour for each car with no blending for Shadows or highlights. which is disappointing. The Taxi are the best looking car in the game, you can see all the detail and have different shades of yellow to them. the Cut scenes are very good, they look like a film in places with there dark effect on them with touch of film grain to boot. if the game looked as good as the cut scenes you would be playing GTA IIV without being able to enter cars.

Performance
The Performance is good but also not that well optimized, by that i mean i have yet to notice any stutters or drop in FPS & runs well considering all the explosion etc there is. i did get a crash once on picking up a hint but was resolved when i reloaded the game, but lost 2 hours of exp points..

Why i feel its not optimized?
i am playing @ 1920x1200 with 4AA (max) & all high & im achieving 72-92FPS.
However my current rig is:
i7 940 @ 3.0 | 6GB DDR3 1066 | EVGA 280GTX SSOC SLI
i feel that game does not utilse the SLi To its full advtange or any for that matter.

Free Roam.
The City is vast & great to explore. ive not seen any 2 buildings that look the same. there are however bridges that are closed which i could see being opened up later in the game (not finished yet) or in a free DLC

Powers are very fun to use but as i said before its a pick up play & put away game. the powers are great for causing havoc around the city from blowing up cars cutting tanks up, sticking spikes though helicopters & making them explode. i have yet to unlock every power but i do enjoy causing mayhem.i do feel that there wont be enough to keep me amused for a long time so far the longest run i have played this game before getting bored was 3 hours.

Conclusion:
i do hope they will release DLC for extra powers from some big well know super heores to expand this game futher & include multiplayer options. i could see this game being as big as GTV IV online community if time was put in to some fun game modes & great connectivity. The Game Overall is a great pick up and play game if you currently looking for one this is a great consideration & will give you a unquie genre to your collection for thayt point alone i think it worth the purchase. i do howver feel that game is overpriced at £34.99 but certain brick stores have it for £29.99 if had to buy this again knowing what i know i would say this game is worth £24.99

Online Ideas.
it would be great to see game modes such as
"protect the Target" (VS)
"clear up the infections" (Coop)
"most Damage" (VS)
"Capture the Flag" (Team VS?)
(Free Roam Racing)(VS)

Hope you liked my review

i wrote the above review in the prototype thread and few people commented that my review was good & well explained.

I was just wondering, if you think i should start reviewing more games for OCUK mainly for fun but will help me improve my grammar/spelling :D

would like your thoughts

if so which games? :o

Hey smogsy, I have a pretty established gamesreview blog (www.gamesreview.co.uk) and really could do with a few contributing writers. If you want, I can set you up to add your own reviews etc to it.

All you will need is a blogger.com account. This is free and just a means to upload posts to the blog. The site gets a lot of hits so I really need more stuff on it as I am the only reviewer atm!

Seems that a lot of people have varying performance hardware around here, so given the croc that are system requirements, might be good to establish some kind of convention, for people who want to, to benchmark the game on the various hardware. Might act as a good suppliment to a full review..this is as opposed to someone just saying 'it runs badly', as it just doesnt mean very much to someone considering buying a game..

there was that crysis benchmark thing not too far back which looked reasonable, if perhaps a bit further than this suggestion..maybe just anybody posts the rig, some settings and fps on a benchmark map or something..
