Hi Guys, contemplating an upgrade from my existing AMD 955be system. Can you review and comment? Thanks

I already have a corsair PSU 850watt (maybe 800 I forget)
I already have an MSI R6870 Hawk, do I need the video card below to play all games on ultra or should I stick with what I've got (1080p)

The 670 also gives you cuda support whilst being better than the 7950. The samsung RAM is good and overclocks well but going higher than 1600mhz makes little odds on this socket so save your cash. I used the retail CPU as for £5 more you get another 2 years on the warranty and the stock heatsink aswell (although clearly not needed).

Looks awesome.

will boss any game out now and in the foreseeable future.

P.S did i spell foreseeable right? lols

Personally would be getting a 7950.

Benchmarks here:

Also the Sandforce drivers are not as reliable as the Samsung, Crucial or Intel ones. So look at those for SSD's.

Thanks

Ok, will change the SSD, I did wonder about that.

Why would you prefer the 7950? I was leaning towards the AMD (as used them a lot in the past) but the benchmarks from an earlier post show on average the Nvidia to be quicker?

I would go with the 7950 as it is simply the better deal and will have no problems handling games at 1080p. Also it can be OCd to match the GTX 670.

it seriously depends which game, i like nvidia too bcos one the games i play likes them more but they are over priced right now, its hard to justify the extra ><

The high end 7950's and low end 670's are roughly equal price. However the 7950 can easily be overclocked to past 670 performance.

I would personally go with this:
YOUR BASKET
1 x Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7970 Windforce 3X 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with FREE Sleeping Dogs PC Game £335.99
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £184.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £108.98
1 x OCZ Vertex 4 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (VTX4-25SAT3-128G) £88.99
1 x Zalman Z9 Plus Tower Case with Fan Controller - Black £48.98
1 x GeIL EVO Leggera 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GEL38GB1600C9DC) £31.19
1 x Thermalright True Spirit 120 CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/1155/1156/AM2/AM3/FM1) £24.98
Total : £838.21 (includes shipping : £11.75).

Saved some money on the cooler and case and went 7970 WF 3x instead. The 7950 and 670 are both also great cards. Performance really depends on game, but in general the 670 is better stock and 7970 is better overclocked.
I prefer the Vertex 4 just because it has a longer 5 year warranty.
Case is really personal preference I just like the z9+ because it has 4 fans, a temp sensor, and a fan controller all for under £50.
I know the cooler is worse, but I think the TS120 is a great cooler for the price. Yes you will run a few degrees hotter but I think its worth the saving.
Just my 2 cents, enjoy your new build either way.

I have the z9 case too. I've stopped spec'ing it as there is now a USB 3 version which ocuk don't stock yet.

I used that shinobi as it comes with two fans the non windowed shinobi comes with one. The z9 does come with a lot of kit, its biggest "failing" is the mesh side panel which let's dust in.

I'd stick with the 670 you can over clock it too and having cuda can prove useful as its widely used by software. nvidia also has HDAO lighting as well as SSAO. AMD only does SSAO, I prefer HDAO as the shadows look better in my eyes
