Bout yes.

Looking to get a 360 in the near future maybe towards the end of the year, what is casuing the delay is all the rumours and half facts about a newer 65n chips going into them, along with a revision to manufacturing to iron out some of the bad fail rates of the units.

Im not slagging but it does seem quite high.

So dies anyone have any idea of any release dates for the newer version.

Im just looking at the Premium, for the life of me I cant justify a Elite.

Got a wii at the mo which im looking forward to some titles on, but want the 360 for more, well, adult rated violence lol.

Any help would be appreciated.

no they don't if you can cope withe the possibility that you might get a bad one (which will be covered for 3 years) then buy one. If you can't then don't.

So dont buy one if I cant help but notice theres to much of a chance to get one that will bum out on me?

Seems abit shrpish to swallow, surly MS will have to adress the manufacturing at some point?, I jsut assumed this would be the same time they updated the chips.

Problem here is Im in no real rush to get one.

MS have started to address the issues, with extra heatpipes and heatsink to provide additional cooling inside. No doubt they will continue further as there have been other revisions to the PCB etc. Also don't forget they have increased the warrenty to three years for the 3 red lights problem.

Anyway, if you want a 360 and there's games you want to play then just buy one! I got mine a couple weeks after launch and it's still running perfectly with no problems!

The new fixed 360's start rolling out soon, apparently the Elite due out this month in the UK has the new fixes in place now.

Well I can't find the link now since the search is down but it was from a Microsoft employee that they had identified the problem and it was fixed or something.

They just said something about waiting for the stores to get the new stock and stuff.

Also this is of some relevance, only posted on July 31st: http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/microsof...-cooling-to-retail-xbox-360-elites-284405.php

there may not be a newer revision in the near future, the announcement claiming they'd found the problem and would be rectifying it could just have been made to douse the flames surrounding the consoles reliability.

Dont get me wrong im not trying to flame, im looking to buy one after all, as i just preferr the games coming out for it.

But obviously if im not in a rush and can wait abit for a ammended version, I happliy would.

I know about the 3 year warrenty, but I just think thats gonna open up the flood gates for awhile, and me having to sit with no console for ages.

Ahhhh then in terms of the warenty the shop just give you a new one?.

Is that a shops policy or MS policy?.

Is that for the first year or all 3 years?.

IN my experience on electronics, while the shop may DEAL with the warrenty IE post parcel it send it back and deal with any paper work, its still sent back to manufacurer to either repair or replace it.

It is complicated and covered under the Sale of Goods Act.
The fact that MS have admitted that there is an inheerent fault with the design means you should have little difficulty getting the shop to replace it.
