Components getting pricey

PC vendors are jacking up their prices as part costs, including display panels, DRAM, SSDs, Li batteries are getting more expensive.

According to Digitimes, PC makers are expected to raise retail prices when new models equipped with revised Kaby Lake processors are launched in the third quarter of 2017.

Intel is planning to release upgraded Kaby Lake processors in the third quarter and PC vendors are expected to release new products with increased prices to target back-to-school demand.

Lenovo COO Gianfranco Lanci said that PC part shortages were not getting better and the company will raise its PC prices to reflect some of the increased costs.

Asustek’s CEO Jerry Shen said his outfit’s biggest challenges in 2017 were exchange rate fluctuations and component price hikes. To decrease the impact from the part pricing, Asustek is also planning to increase the prices for its new products.

The part shortages will put more pressure on small PC vendors, as big vendors placing bigger amounts of component orders will be given priority by their suppliers.

Best off getting your new system now if you're an intel fanboy as later this year you'll get stung with price increases. AMD chaps you need not fear much. Intel tax won't affect you guys :p

Well if my mind wasn't made up before it is now! Intel really are shafting themselves in the butt so hard atm, AMD have something that when the BIOS bugs are fixed will be the best go to from i7 7700k-6900k.

The whole article doesn't state which products.
Kabylake-X X229 platform? These are going to be 6-10 core CPUs and they will either be priced at B-E levels or even higher, since they target the Enthusiast market. They weren't going to be prices the same as the mainstream ones. (Skylake-X comes only in quad core format)

Or they are talking about Kabylake Z270 platform respin selling for higher price than currently?

At any case proves why everyone should buy AMD products after the issues with motherboards, RAM and BIOS are resolved.

The article seems to suggest that it's pre-built pc prices that will be increasing so self builders should still be able to get good deals.

Well I was waiting for the R5 1600(X) but saw the R7 1700 del for £296 so jumped in. Now waiting for my pre-ordered motherboard, god I hope these retailers are not keeping short supply to keep prices high, I noticed a couple of price hikes since yesterday. Mine is ordered here for a set price but if I see one elsewhere for similar money in stock I will cancel.
