Not because of damage to the amp but because the speaker needs to be on something firmer than the amplifier. Cant be doing it any favours though, heatwise.
I would also take off all that stuff on top of the speakers - its bound to rattle and generally be bad.
EDIT:
Oh and having speakers right in the corner of the room is never an amazingly good idea either!
I honestly can't hear the difference. You guys are serious audiophiles !
It still sounds superb to me and I'm not about to mess my whole room up for apparent improvements which i will not notice. The bottom line is that it sounds extremely good to me - so I'm happy. I've moved the speaker off the AMP and on to my desk, so atleast that's sorted. Other than that I'll probably keep it that way. I just thought I'd check here!
It aint that bad, mate just purchased some B&W 602's and has placed them 1.2m away from each other and they are FACING each other!! He then sits in the middle and wears them like headphones . And to top it all he got a surround amp to do stereo as he like all the features it had.
Anyway, suggest you put them on something more sturdy than the amp etc. Yellow pages work wonders for budget speaker support.
if they sound good to you then thats all that matters really, improvements can be made to any system and its far to easy to get stuck in a audiophile situation where you are listening to how to make improvements rather than just sitting back and enjoying the music/films.
