I am so very impressed with the level of sophistication now available with the Fallout Interoperability Project (FOIP) and mod tools like FOMM. I also have quite a few texture and body mesh replacers that don't show up in that load order.

I fully recommend trying this and can see lots of features from these mods that have been implemented in Fallout New Vegas, although whats most amusing is that they are better implemented in Fallout 3 it seems.

Is there any easy way for me to get all these mods running? I dont really have time to faf around with all nighters (stupid work :( ) Is there anywhere that hosts the mods already extracted into relevant folders or is that a pipe dream?

You've just reminded me that I need to go and play that dang game, I really am terrible for abandoning games half way through. Thanks for the mod list though :)

I got all the info to do this from fallout nexus, you have to use fo3edit a bit but its not actually that complicated (the lateness probably made it take longer than it needed!)

Fallout 3 just feels so polished and new now, and its been long enough that I've forgotten so many of the quests :-)

Father Christmas will hopefully be delivering Fallout 3 this year (I've been good all year ;) ). I've never played it so is it better to play the original or mod it up like this?

I have no idea how stable the original game is with official patches etc.

The thing I've found with Fallout and Oblivion is that I get the mods installed and working without to much difficulty and then screw it up by trying to tweak it slightly in a have my cake and eat it too type situation.

Not going to happen I'm afraid. It takes a bit of work to get them all going. Don't try and go from nothing to having 73 mods. Start off slowly with one of the big overhaul mods. Either FWE, or FOOK2..... then add new stuff when you're familiar with the changes the overhauls make.

This is soooo true. I got everything running fine, 60 odd plugins, then completely killed my installation somehow with small tweaks. ;)

Joachim. Am I being blind, or are you not running any weather mods?

Download this. It makes the sky's absolutely pant-crapping beautiful. I mean.. REALLY beautiful.

I'm currently playing through this for the first time and it has me hooked :D

I knew it would as I was hooked on oblivion a few years ago. Atm I only have that texture mod running.

Oh forgot to mention after a series of events that i started I got the sherriff killed by some bloke who wanted to re-activate the bomb is that going to affect my game down the track? I stole his clothes and his naked body is still on the floor of the bar lol

It's part of the story. You have a choice. If you spoke to the guy about the bomb you could choose to activate it or deactivate it. Each way gives a different outcome. You have choices like this all through the game.

Brilliant game though! I prefer it to New Vegas for some reason.

I still haven't played through it all, keep getting sidetracked in the wastelands and never make much progress.

I've had my save game for like 2 years or something stupid now.

This is the first FO3 thread search threw up, so... So there's a Samsung ad on telly at the moment and every time I hear "I don't want to set the world on fire" I get the itch to fire up FO3 again. Last time I tried that I soon gave up because... well, it's ugly as sin! And while looks aren't everything in a game, even I lower my visual standards too much I'll never be able to get back up again at my age.

Anyway... music can really make a game and that song is forever Fallout 3 now!

It was fairly ugly even when it was released.

I tried to play FO3 a few years ago and it's aged terribly.

New Vegas was a marked improvement (once they'd fixed the release bugs) and obviously Fallout 4 even more so.

It feels clunky but the game doesn't work putting the difficulty up, just means the enemies can tank sooooooo much damage so you basically just run out of ammo, it's otherwise not really any more difficult.

It has its moments, finding Harold as a tree was very cool for example, particularly like me if you are familiar with the original two games, but otherwise I dunno...it was a good game at release.

I appreciate you can mod the crap out of it but meh..... If you want to do that just go play Fallout 4.
