Morning
Need help to re-wire d5 ek pumps pcie connector to go directly into seasonic focus plus psu.
Currently its as per below, looking at it with a clip on top, first row: 1 and 2 has a cable, 3 empty
Bottom row: all empty

Have 0 knowledge when it comes to cable modding
Cheers

Most pumps come with either molex or a 4 pin fan header connection, not sure why your trying to wire it into a pcie connector

Reading your other post, I would have thought easiest thing would be to confirm with previous owner your brought it from and how it worked.

normally an EK D5 PWM pump has a molex cable with two of the cables present, a 12v cable and a Ground cable

That pinout config you mentioned does not make sense to me to be honest as looking at a pinout of a PCIe 6 Pin:

I would have thought at a minimum it would be wired to one pinout on the top and bottom row (and possibly the sense as a third). From your post sounds like its wired only to ground and sense (or 12v and another 12v if looking at it from the bottom row).

From his other post, brought a second hand pump and appears someone did the rewrire already.

He is wanting to connect the pump directly to one of the modular sockets on his power supply. Looks like the socket on it has a 12v and a ground wire based on your ascii sketch, so just check your power supply manual to see which pins are which. If you are any doubt which pins are which on the PSU then I would abandon the idea and put a normal molex back on the pump cable. I very much doubt any form of PWM will be accommodated by connecting a pump to directly to a power supply btw, if this is a PWM pump.

If the pump is PWM, it will take the control signal from a fan header and the power from the PSU.

+1 for chopping the wires and doing it to suit your own needs. Not worth the risk using someone else's custom wiring, make it your own.

I would simple rewire back to molex.
If needed, I can send a picture of my Vario D5 EK for reference. Nit the PWM version, but the power connection is similar.

dangerous assumption!
Indeed, lots of pumps have other colour codes. I made the assumption based on EK's photos of the EK X-RES D5 Combo because of this thread: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/connecting-ek-xres-d5-combo-pump-res.18865988/

However if that isn't the pump you have it's less relevant. Here are the other assumptions I made and didn't state ( :p ) :

Power wires are the thicker ones
There are only two power wires, red and black

If either of those isn't true, make no other assumptions!
