I haven't played rFactor for a while but this sounds like great fun.. will download and install the pack/track and see if I can join in at some point.

cheers log1K..

No worries, we are not doing anything to heavy. Just a load of practice and some odd races depending on numbers. Just a bit of a laugh.

All welcome.

I'm definately on tonight Log1k.

I'll be hoping on around 7.30ish. Plenty of time for you to get your car setup right before I hammer you round Spa all night. :-)

It would be a first my man, but I do welcome it.

I will be going mad with the virgin, probably making a better car than they had planned. (Perhaps I should sell the configuration to Virgin? :O )

Well, kinda. The AI is ok, it really depends on the mod you choose to install. Each modification comes with different attributes that either condemn you to stupid AI or very good AI - having said all that, the track creator must be savvy with a working knowledge of race lines, dirt, curbs, grass etc all these things can help / hinder the AI.

A few of the mods you are likely to install (depending on your chosen area of racing) have quite good all round AI and configs.

So, I would say yes. It's a modification based game. The stock cars etc, you will grow tired of very quickly - but there are 1000's of mod's ready for you to download and enjoy now.

Me and two others on OcUK have been having a cruise on rFactor recently, but we don't really drive F1 cars. They're so fast that the grid just gets split up in a matter of seconds, and less than half of a full online grid usually ever see's the checkered flag.

I'm a big F1 fan, but there are better series if you just want to get into the racing spirit with randoms from a forum.

I might show my face though.

Edit: Although I've never tried this mod, perhaps it's more drivable.

I've just reinstalled rFactor and stuck the F1 mod on - will see if I can get some free time this evening.

Any other good mods at the moment? Last time I really looked at rFactor was ~2007 time! I'm sure mods have come on a bit since then!

I haven't really played any other the other mods. I touched on the 2009 mod and found the cars far to twitchy and an effort to control.

The 2010 mod has the 2010 cars and the cars are much easier to drive and control, configuring your car makes a lot of difference as well. Having said that, a good lap time is still a challenge to nail properly.

I havent checked any other mods. There and 1000's though. Best bet would be to check reviews etc.

Generally user's review the addon so you'll have a good idea of what it's like. (In case you didnt already know)

I'm going to slap on the BTCC 2009 mod end of next week. That'll be close simple racing. Good laugh too.
