RFactor now comes with a Free trial.
If you start Rfactor and do not have a license it now gives you a Free trial option. :)
The trial consist of the BMW and a Kodi car (ZR) and you can drive on Nurburgring and Toban Short.
Main site linky http://www.rfactor.net/

This is the latest 11.50 version containing the most recent updates and additions.

Try it and judge for yourself.

just remember its the mods is what this game is about ;)

Not since the new patch my friend. Odviously in the near future yes but as it stands now all you need is a current 1150 version of RFactor. This includes the BMW Sauber and some current tracks.
Never been a better time to get into this game as even us old hands are all getting used to the new cars/tracks and handling characteristics.
To be honest i am dead slow at the mo. :p

I can confirm that the Megane mod works with the 11.50 patch.
Also to be had is the Superkart mod and the Superkart track packs times two.
The Megane mod for me is the best drive.

Beano.
That shocks me mate as there are specific tweaks to the FFB in the new patch.
What wheel are you using and are you sure you drove the trial not the old demo ?
One of the things that has pleased me most is the improvements in feel. I can actually feel the tyres underneath me giving and moving.
Since the patch i have found it much easier to hold a slide at speed and in the Meganes i drift for fun.
I do have specific settings for my Momo as the default settings do seem to dumb it down. Turn down wheel centreing to 10% for a more positive feel and odviously a seperate pedal axis is a must.
It should also be noted that your FFB is directly related and effected by your system performance. If your system is struggling then so will your FFB.

Each to there own though mate and at least you tried it.

Note to others.
One of my team mates has joint released the Zonda mod. I can confirm this loads and runs perfectly with the new patch and is a joy to drive.
Look out for the Top Gear skin including Stig as driver.

I will ask my teammates for a specific DFP config file. Hopefully one of them is actually using a DFP.

My basic set is to reduce centreing to 10%.
Increase steering to 50%.
And select a Single axis for pedals.
I also only have a very small degree set for steering say 14-15 max.
Make sure to dump some fuel before leaving pits and drop the tyre pressures and choose soft compound.
I know you are well experienced Beano so most of this is more for others. ;)

It's worth noting that if i run the game maxxed out my FFB feels lifeless and numb. Running on mediums gives me the feel i want from my set up. This is why i believe overall system performance effects FFB. It seems to draw something away from the wheel when your system struggles.
I have my track textures maxxed out as i find that helps with my line and braking markers but the rest i have on Mediums.

Beano.
I have that notepad config file but it's to long to post. Add me to MSN and i will pass it over.

CDTP mod is Awesome.
Unbelievably fast, great handling, brilliant skins a complete joy to drive.
The buzz of overtaking a Ferrari or Renault in current livery is fantastic. This game just gets better and better. I raced all night last night and will race all day today.
There is just one problem now. :(
What do i drive,
My F1 car, my Zonda or my Megane. Choices choices choices. :)

I have never had so much fun sitting down.

This is probably due to the Speed sensitivity settings that ISI use which in real effect dumb down the FFB.
Reduce Speed sensitivity setting to Zero %
Centreing to 10%
Digital steering raise to 50%
and go Single Axis on the pedals.

If you have the DFP wheel Beano has a config file to try i sent him yesterday.
It's weird because others say they don't get any feel where as i am literally hurting myelf whilst racing. The force i get back is mad and has to be set at medium. I am knackered after a long race and sweat like a rapist. :p

Bare in mind i am an old git though so it may be me just being weak frail and old. :D

Personally i like the mod and think it feels great. They are very tail happy and you really have to plant your rear and kick it out of bends.
I had my first race in a 20 field earlier and won it, the secret is to be smooth and consistant don't get larey or they will bite you.

Spent a good couple of hours racing the Porka's yesterday. They are great and make for good close racing. 10 lappers wear you out a bit as you really have to drive the car for every second. Lots of scarey moments are had and plenty of people are on the servers.
This is what i love aboout Rfactor. Out in the Porka's for some hairy drifting and close racing, then jump into the F1's for some frantic action then out of them and into the Meganes, once done you can try the 1979 F1's.
Bare in mind that all four mentioned are mods and a free addition to the game. On top of all that they have all been released in the last week or so for Nowt.

How cool is that.

Got the demo, but haven't given it a proper spin yet. I've never really got on with the ISI based physics engine, something always feels a bit fake to me.

You have Not even driven it properly but yet you post against it.

From what I've read, the community is a bit of a mess. Lots of decent mods and talented folk involved, but the amount of different mods and tracks varying of quality has made the whole situation a bit fragmented.

From what you have READ not what you have Actually experienced.

(Trying to be as polite as possible)

I really cannot take you seriously at all, Please move away from my thread :p :D :p
