RGB Header Ground

Hey guys,

Does anyone know how safe it is to use a 5v RGB JRainbow connector without pin 4 (ground)?

I’ve not spoke to OCUK yet (brand new board) - When I gently put the cable on the header, it was quite wobbly so took it out to check and noticed the 4th pin was really short on the header - most of it appears to be inside the connector as there was no metal laying around. I'm confident I didn’t handle it wrong, it’s as if the pin was brittle - or the connector in the cable faulty.

This will connect through a ARGB controller that comes with the Silverstone RVZ03B-ARGB case. The board is grounded to the case I think. Page 15 in this guide talks about Silverstone’s ARGB connectivity through their custom controller.

Spoke to my dad who’s an electrical engineer, he said the ground regulates the voltage, without it there won’t be a steady 5V and it could go above. No idea what this would do to the board or the RGB lights, prob safer to get the board replaced.

It should be okay if it's making some contact.

On another note the ARGB header/connector is absolutely terrible design.

Does seem a bizarre connector compared to most other things. I’ll reach out to OCUK and see what they say first, I doubt there will be any ground with how it snapped off. My dad said he could solder a new pin but that would be the end of my warranty lol.

When I first used it the amount of times it pulled off due to how loose it is, it's absolutely horrible no locking pin no nothing.
