RHEL5.4 wifi error code help

Hi, just installed red hat enterprise 5.4 & whilst the network works over Ethernet, it wont connect over wifi.
I have static ip's setup (but have tried dhcp) & have tried different settings though not gone as far as looking into the scripts yet (im new to linux).

The connection attempt returns the error:

Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.
Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.

Does anyone have an idea? thanks...

It will connect if theres no wifi key.
Tried all wifi key options on router (netgear dg834gt).

Ahh where you enter the pass key in linux for wifi, it only accepts a hex key so by using a WEP hex/key as an open system on the router & entered that its connected

Err, is a WEP open system secure? I noticed if I dont enter the correct hex/key it wont connect.

Or which script contains the normal key information so I can use WPA2 security.
