Have just watched news 24 and it appears that a tribe of native Americans are buying the Hard Rock franchise in cash :eek:

It turns out that native Americans are allowed to have gambling establishments on their land and pay no state tax on the returns. :eek:

Pretty amzing really.

Very few are wealthy, mainly the ones who own or have a share in the casinos. Reservations generally have some of the worst poverty in the country and some of the highest rates of drug and alcohol problems.

They can have casinos because the reservations are considered their own 'sovereign nations'.. they charge the government for everything that goes through their land, phone lines etc.
They don't pay tax as such to the state because they are on their own land, although they do get some federal support for schools and hospitals because they are so poor.

Living on some of those reservations is not what I would consider desirable.

They all drive Toyota 4x4 flatbed pickups... but they are still poor. Feds provide them with vehicles as a kind of repatriation agreement.

You go to pèlaces like Monument valley and it is on Indian land so you have to pay through your nose o go round. But, they make and sell nice jewerly on the cheap!

It was a nice gesture which has since been utterly abused by a minority of the native American community.

Most Native Americans live in horrifying poverty and alcoholism and drug abuse is absolutely rife—I seem to remember reading somewhere that alcoholism rates among Native Americans are 3 times the rates for the rest of the US. Madness.

You still get them down here living like they did before thew White people came, They live out in the Outback and in and around the Kimberly and the Nullabor.

You get some really nice people that live in Society aswell but like all cultures you get the little disgusting ****s that give them a bad name
