Sad that he has passed, but at least he wasn't "young" compared to a lot of 2016 "celeb" deaths

More celebrities will die in 2017. Get used to it.

A 96 year old's death may be worthy of commemoration and reflection and celebration of their life's endeavors, but I can't be sad about it. And a lot of people have had enough by 96 - getting old is not a barrel of fun.
And if you had asked me out of the blue if Richard Adams was still alive or not, I would not have had a clue (I would have assumed he was already dead).

RIP - though 96 darn good innings. Watership Down excellent but I also enjoyed his Shardik and Plague dogs novels, too.

96 is amazing. He had to leave the UK during the 70's due to the highest tax rates levied meaning he would have lost almost all of his earnings most of which came from his most famous writings in just a few years

RIP. Great book, which I read last year for the first time on holiday. I also enjoyed the cartoon.
