Richard Adams - RIP

R.I.P :( Just heard about this too, what a day :(... He lived a long and fruitful life but very sad to hear another part of my life has also gone today. Really loved Watership Down and the animation and music was stunning.

Anyone that loves animation may also want to know this year Joe Alaskey, a voice actor who performed such characters as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, died February 3rd 2016 at the age of 63. The actor voiced many other beloved Looney Tunes characters, including Tweety Bird, Sylvester the Cat and Plucky Duck. Another sad loss this year in the Animation field.

That's why I liked it so much. It was a novel/movie that didn't pull its punches or treat kids like fragile little morons that can't handle grim topics.

[after General Woundwort's last stand against a dog]
Narrator: General Woundwort's body was never found. It could be that he still lives his fierce life somewhere else, but from that day on, mother rabbits would tell their kittens that if they did not do as they were told, the General would get them. Such was Woundwort's monument, and perhaps it would not have displeased him.

This is sad, however you get the feeling that in the last couple of months news outlets have picked up on anyone remotely famous to try and make the number of 'celebrities' that have died increase by as many as possible. Ultimately yes more famous people have died this year than in living memory but it's not helped by the mainstream reporting of anyone who achieved anything being a full on celeb. Probably a bit sceptical but yeah, everyone dies at some point.
