Ricky Gervais

I watched it, enjoyed it. Yes he retreads the same subjects, regardless of what the special is called, but I sort of expect that.

I’ve not seen it yet but he has been pretty meh for ages now imo. I very much enjoyed animals, politics and out of england but humanity onwards has been pretty poor and he just seems a bit lazy now (“a bit” is me being kind). He can be pretty insufferable on twitter as well to the point where I feel he is more or less a real life David Brent at this point.

Also the whole “they are going to cancel me for saying this” shtick is so boring and overdone, same goes for any comedian at this point.

The Ricky Gervais show on Xfm and HBO will always be his funniest work, no merchant or pilkington = he’s not as funny

What upsets me about tired comedians? Wasted talent. He could listen to the feedback, when people say Ricky, you’ve been in the business 25 years. Can you please remember how to blaze a trail? How to keep your audience laughing and not just bored? But he doesn't. That’s the tragedy.

The beginning bit with the same rehashed stuff about cancel culture etc was boring.

The whole culture war shtick is just tedious now. Yeh, we get it, some people on the internet will complain about some of your jokes. No one cares. You didn’t get cancelled, and you were never going to be. You are still performing to sold out venues and getting massive amounts of money from Netflix.

After that (when he strayed away from that subject), it was pretty funny. I do still like him as a comedian, but there is only so much you can hear about the people that complain about him on the internet.

i think this was his weakest show though.

I enjoyed Tom Segura's new special more to be honest.

I didn't think it was good and, sadly, I haven't found anything he has done good for years.

He seemed to rehash an old Karl Pilkington routine which was annoying (he does this a lot now).

I think after seeing Stewart Lee in February and loving his shows, all other standups are not as good.

Ricky is eausly my favourite comedian to see live, only seeing him once, but even then I can admit his latest stuff doesn't quite hit like it used to. Haven't watched this yet, will prob put it on soon, but seeing what others have said already matches my expectations.

I agree this whole "I'm going to get cancelled for this" joke is beyond dated now
