Ridiculous ping in CS:GO

This is becoming quite frustrating now. Every single time I start a game, I'll have a stupidly high ping for about 5 minutes, before it calms down and actually lets me play normally for a tiny bit.

Just tried playing now and it was over 700. Thing is, it doesn't happen with any other game, so what's going on? :confused:

I have some weird thing where the game will appear to be spiking like, there is no lag what so ever but it makes a noise and all my weapons / grenades etc refresh on screen for a sec (like i just picked up a weapon or changed weapon) every now and then during a match, it might be valves crappy servers though

Ah, thanks for reminding me of rates. I had a look online and used some settings people recommended and it seems fine now!
