Only been horse riding once in my life, and NEVER AGAIN.
Rode on a horse that positively compulsive about being next to another one of the group. While it was a fantastic display of the more social aspects of horses, it was terrifying for me as this beast with me on it would continually bolt towards the front of the pack to be with this other horse. Arrrrghghhhghg!
I always get the trouble horse. -.-
First time I rode a horse it bolted before they finished explaining how to control it. I gripped hold of it as if my life depended on it.. and unfortunately, squeezing it with your legs tells the horse to go faster.. so that probably didn't help. Terrified everyone around.
Also went on a holiday with my family to Canada which involved staying on a ranch and riding. They did mention when they gave me the horse to ride that it was "a little bit spirited" and well, it was. Kept trying to bite the horses in front, never wanted to be behind the other horses so would be constantly trying to overtake and seemed to have a great hatred for the farm dog which it kept trying to bolt at. The people working there said that it was because he was young so challenging the heirachy of the herd and would settle eventually, however I got him whilst he was still trying to proove he was top horse.
Wasn't really an appropriate horse for me, as I'd had very little previous experience with horses, but it did make things a bit more interesting.
