Hi all.

I have a bsa scope and the rubber coating is scuffed and sticky, trying to find a way to remove it without taking off the paint under it.

But seaching on google wd40 seems like a good thing but its not working very well for me.

Here some pics of the scope.

How does your average serial killer deal with this issue?

Average serial killer gets shot down by police before it becomes a problem.

Pro hitman makes enough from his last job to kit himself out in the good stuff for the next job :D

Tried paint thinners? Careful if it's plastic underneath though, not all plastics are thinners-proof. Nail polish remover might work too, but make sure it's high in acetone. Zippo fuel might also do the trick. Any light solvent, but I think WD40 might just make an oily greasy mess.

Well I got this for £5 and at the time when I first picked it up I thought it was just dirty and needed a good clean. But a quick google seach showed me that it happens on the cheaper scopes and no way of fixing it I think.

But the rubber coat is really scuffed up so I would taken it off anyways.

I hope to use it on a spikes tactical st22 after I get FAC around april time next year if all goes well.

Yeah I would hate this to have this happen in a year or so down the line if I had paid £40-100 for a new scope without knowing about it :(

If I buy a new scope now it will never have a rubber coat on it lol.

Most the of the rubber is off now but the glue takes a bit longer :(

hmm, correct me if i am wrong, but doesn't your eye only go at one end, or do you have to rub it up and down the scope for maximum effect? if not, just leave it be?

More importantly, pics of the weapon it goes on. And your name and address to pass on to the relevant authorities pls

It can be distracting, also as it perishes it creates tiny particles which can be problematical and darned annoying which isn't what you want from a scope.

Looking much better GothicGhost.
