Hi all

An almost impossible question to answer, but thought I'd see if anyone had any thoughts.

Obviously awful time to buy, but faced with the dilemma of needing a new card so can either get a 1060 6gb and look to replace it next year with something shiny or lock into a 1070 for two years. Obviously the price difference is about 150 quid.

As I would be mostly using it for VR on a Rift, anytime had any experience of using both? Does the 25% boost make a difference? Would be mostly playing dcs, skyrim etc.

I always buy the best card I can afford. You don't know what's coming in a year or what the prices will be like. I had the 1070 for the Rift and it a did a great job.

Saying that, at the moment the prices are a higher than normal. The mining craze seems to be over, prices should drop over the next few weeks.

You might take a look at the Members Market here, might be some good deals.

Suggest a 2nd hand 1070. They tend to go fairly cheap, and if you get one with a decent cooler, it should be still prime. Mine runs cool as you like.

What's the AMD equivalent to a 1070? I can't shake the feeling that vr would be better with 8GB

I've got two VR's one connected to a PC with a 1080 GTX, the other one is a 1060 6GB, admittedly the most stressful game we've played is Sunshine Arizona which I guess isn't that stressful. However, the playing experience is exactly the same on both...

The MM's is the place to look, a couple of 1070's for sale at the moment...

Agreed, if you can hold out for a 1070, the prices for new should be down very quick as a the mining profitability has now gone, so expect a flood of used cards!
