rift cv1 worth buying

Are the older rifts work picking up cheap. I remember seeing that a lot.of older headsets will not be supported soon but can't remember the brand / models

Should add not really for gaming but a little light gaming would be nice.. so support would be key here

It would have to be really cheap.

If support is Key, then should you be even considering a headset that's out of production and out of warranty??

It just for group moves and my little sister to play the vr rides and deep sea dive stuff. But the option to play a few grown-up games would be nice.

When I was saying support is key what I mean is i don't want to buy one and next week steam drop support.

ah ok, no, support in that way isn't going to be dropped.

135, for full set up, sensors, controllers, unit and all cables.

There going for 200 on the bay for same setup.

Do you have any other options, but not wanting to blow loads to just play with. I won't be going full vr crazy the games I play don't support it

It's a good headset if you can pick one up cheap and realise that spares are difficult and expensive to get hold of.

If you get a three sensor setup working I'd say the tracking and the controllers are best in class - better than the Index even (and I have an Index).

The biggest downside (apart from the number of USB's required) is the low resolution. The comfort, controllers, tracking and audio is all great.

In fact I'd have been happy if they'd released just a higher resolution version of the Rift.

Two faults to watch for: The cables can get tangled, leading to breakages, which causes the headset to be not detected. Replacement cables are expensive and hard to get hold of. Another is that the right side audio can be broken, due to a ribbon cable breaking in the headset.

Thanks @Ravenger some good things to take onboard there. If someone was wanting to get into vr what would be the go too budget headset if buying new

Nah, I wouldn't pay that much now. Too much faff in setting it up. Too many things to go wrong and I don't think it's a good match for what you want to do.

I mean an headset to watch videos, and my little sister wants to play a few games and so on but she's only young.

Are these videos on your computer? Or are you talking about Streaming them, like Netflix or Amazon Prime?

An Oculus Go would be better, and cheaper if you just want to watch Netflix or movies. The store no longer has new apps, but I believe you can still download them.

The Rift is not a good device for watching video - it's too low resolution.

How would my sister play basic games on steam with a go? Or is there an app for it.

Well a go is a basic stand-alone headset so you can't really play Steam Games on it. It's just a far better video playback device if that's the primary use. There are simpler games that can be played on it with a gamepad or the controller that comes with it.

It was only a suggestion if you wanted a movie playback headset.

Honestly a second hand Quest 1 would be better, as it can do standalone games, play steam games via USB or wireless with Virtual Desktop, and they are getting cheaper as the Quest 2 is in more demand. It's also much higher resolution than the Rift, so is better for watching Netflix.

Also a Rift can be a pain to setup as you have to have the sensors connected to your PC and placed in a good position to get tracking.

The Oculus Quest 1 is triple the price of a cv1. I think for now I will pick up a cv1 as it looks to be ok and price is good for someone dipping a toe in the vr pool

?? Where are you looking at Quest 1 for £400? Quest 2 is starting at £300, and you can find quest 1s for about £150 I think? There's usually a deal somewhere to get a quest 2 for £280ish new if you're patient, or £250ish second hand.

Show me where to buy a quest 1 please. The only used one I can find is 300. Unless me search was wrong tbf I could find a lot.
I found a cv1 for 100 as a stepping stone to test vr. If we like it and want to do more I will get my 100 back all day long cv1's are getting 175 to 200 on the bay.

Just talking about what I saw when I last checked, might not be available now (sorry). If you can get it for 100 that sounds pretty good, especially if you can straight up get your cash back on it.

Yer I've got one for 106 of the forums, I was going g to pay 135 to a lad a know and I've seen them sell for 200 on ebay
