Hi all,

I'm massively looking forward to VR and have pre-ordered the first Oculus wave shipping the end of March. However, I've recently seen that Frontier may not support CV1 for Elite - the main reason I'm excited about VR and has got me looking at the Vive which Frontier have buddied up with.

Vive:
I predominately play steam games so thats a plus for the Vive, and its supposed to have a slightly larger vertical FOV.... The little camera seems cool and the ability to walk around the room might be fun if there is a cable management solution and I can happily make the space.

Oculus:
The main thing going for the Oculus is I get the "feel" that its is more refined, polished and has had more industrial design put into it. I don't mind waiting for the touch and I get the impression it will be better than Vive's version.

Cost isn't a big issue, I'm after a quality product at the end of the day. Will oculus play well with steam vr??

Hey, thanks for your reply. A lot of people seem to be favoring the Vive tbh. The huge one for me it running E.D off the bat, it makes me think what other games won't be completely or at all compatible with steam vr.....

Having spent all afternoon on google, it appears the two are pretty much the same, there differences are tit for tatt.

The biggie for me is if there will be any exclusivity, which one will end up on top. I'm scared of getting into bed with the wrong one. I saw a tweet from David Braben posted last week alleviating fears that there is no exclusivity deal with Vive, but I love the fact that steam are driving Vive, with the option of sub-contracting different manufactures.

Still don't know...... first world problems!

That's interesting, thanks. In fairness, he didn't try the Rift Touch controllers for comparison, but the general feel is Vive might be the one to go for, almost every PC based forum is advocating the Vive... I'm still keeping my options open, I'll probably pre-order the Vive as well and make a decision a week or so later!

I'm expecting around the £700 - £1000 mark myself. Nice things cost money I guess. I don't mind forking out on that as long as it doesn't goe the way of betamax.

It seems most PC enthusiasts are favoring the Vive tbh

How the Vive price has been released - its going be be a good £150 - £200 more that Oculus. Whats everyone doing?
