Rift problems

I have recently set my Oculus Rift up with a view to having a go at some driving games such as Asseto Corsa, Dirt Rally and Project cars. I have downloaded them on Steam, but when I try to play them I have problems with juddery head tracking.

It's like the head set can't keep up with my head movements or is slow to respond, this makes the games unplayable. I don't have any problems with any of the games from the Oculus store. It just seems to be these games I bought on steam.

Can anyone offer a suggestion on what's wrong?

Do you have any super sampling enabled in steamvr.ini? or oculus debug tool? Is it judder or reprojection?
Have you tried running the games direct via their .exe?
Have you tried disabling sli?
Use a different usb port?

I have tried swapping USB ports, and have tried disabling SLI.

Do I need to make any changes to the steamvr.ini? If so what needs changing?

Have you checked the respective threads for each game on optimising the VR experience?

No. I thought as all 3 games displayed exactly the same issue and that it only happens with Steam Games, that it was a problem with steam or something I needed to do with the Steam settings.

Everything looks great in all 3 games, until I move my head then I see a sort of juttering double vision.

Start Steam VR from the icon on the top right of the Steam window. Don't put your headset on but you should have a little popup that looks like this:

Click the little arrow next to where it says Steam VR beta on that panel and then click Run Room Setup. Follow the directions.

Also, check in the Oculus Home settings (gear wheel icon, top right), then Devices to see if there are any errors with any of the devices.

Thanks, I will give it a go when I get home tonight.

This might be totally off target, but I discovered an issue with using my Rift and having f.lux running (this changes the colour palatte to make it easier on the eyes after sunset.)

With f.lux, there was a huge hit to the frame rate, so I disable it when playing now.

I have tried re-calibrating both the Steam and the Oculus software and it hasn't made a difference, I am still seeing double when using the Rift and Steam.

As I have posted, I don't have a problem when running Project Cars using the Oculus Rift software, but if I try to run is whilst running steam. I get like a double overlay, that is
like seeing double vision.

I have already bought Assetto Corsa and Dirt Rally on Steam and downtown really want to buy them again on the Oculus store just to play the in VR.

that sounds like a sync issue? try messing with Vsync

edit* i dont actually know if vsync should be disabled or enabled for VR but sounds like each eye is getting the wrong frames.

I have the following:

Predator X34A 34" 3440x1440 IPS G-SYNC Monitor
Intel 6700k processor
MSI Z170A Gaming Motherboard
32Gb Vengence memory
2x MSI GTX980ti
3x 500gb Intel SSD drives
950 Pro 512GB M.2 PCI-e 3.0 x 4 NVMe SSD

It doesn't show up as a monitor at all.

No not at all. I have looked at my system settings and it only shows the rift as an audio device. On my display settings it just shows my monitor and wont auto detect the rift even when its running.

What is f.lux?

Can you download the oculus debug tool and try the performance HMD overlay option. This will show you your true fps and if ASW is kicking in

And also can you screenshot and post your Asetto corsa graphic option pages?
