Rift S - clip for headstrap snapped

Anyone come across this problem? The clip at the front has snapped off. Typically it's part of the entire structure of the bit that goes all around the head, so I doubt it's going to be easy to replace.
I tried, with little confidence, to stick it back together with superglue, but it only lasted through one play session.

I suspect this has happened because I've got into the habit of wearing the lens assembly as far away from my face as possible while playing beat saber to let cool air at my face. So the strap has been taking much more strain that it would otherwise.

Is it this that has broken? https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/f0q1jb/rift_s_my_cable_holder_snapped_where_can_i_find_a/

No, not that bit. The fabric strap that goes over the top of your head - it's the bit which holds that at the front which has snapped.

Looking on eBay, I can get the entire head band assembly (so basically everything except the lens box and the wire) second hand for about £30. So that's probably the easiest solution.

This idea is interesting, to overcome the crappy sound:

But I'm not sure I can bring myself to pay over £100 for that solution. Plus, while the audio solution looks good, that Vive headstrap looks really hot!

If you're dead set on getting the vive strap, it may be worth waiting for a sale as many retailers were selling them half price a couple of months back.

Absolutely not dead set. But if I could get one for £50, I'd be fairly tempted.

Does anyone have that Vive deluxe audio strap (even on a Vive)? I'd be interested to know if it is a bit hot, given it seems to be in contact with more of the head.

Mind you, I'm thinking surely I can fix this much easier. If I can get something like a short nylon strap to fix to the front of the headband with decent double sided tape, with a loop in the top of it that's about 3cm wide - that would be in almost exactly the same position as the broken loop. It's just finding something suitable.

I did pick up some velcro squares from B&Q while I was out today.

Stuck a couple to the front just above the lens box, and they do seem to be doing the trick - just attaching the velcro of the headstrap directly to them.

Ideally though, I think something to form a 'loop' at that end for the headstrap to pass through and attach back to itself as normal would be best. I'm just struggling to think of a way of achieving that.

I'm sure I have seen, in the past, very short lengths of nylon webbing strap with a metal loop sewn in at one end. But I can't think of what they were for or what they could be called, so no idea what to search for to find them.

Witrh the latest news about the possibility of a new Quest soon, I think it makes sense to stick with a cheap fix until I see whether I want to upgrade.
