Lo all :-)

i need to get a rifle stock for my rift-s...asap :-P

seen some where the controllers go above the stock and some that go below...some designed to look like weapons and some that are tubes.

i dont care what it looks like...tube or weapon....i think controllers need to be at the bottom (easier to reattach blind with thumb as a guide) and secured/detached with magnets.

i dont have access to a 3d printer and dont have pro-tube money.

few ive seen...like the rifle one because controllers on the bottom more than the fact its a rifle...

Intrested in one myself, been looking on youtube and think controllers on top seem best for tracking, but I'm still trying to find more info before buying

heard the latest updates sorted all that as long as they are in front.....seen vids of above and below and both worked fine....its the dettach/reattach im interested in.
would just prefer them below as i think easier to attach and its what im used to irl.

The 2nd one. Haven't the foggiest why the 3rd has a scope since you will be wearing a HMD

i know...and a suppressor...which is effin detachable....pointless...and just puts the bloody price up

out of interest...why pic the bendy over rigid?

I'd save the extra for a protube (I actually did). EDIT: Although it was £20-30 cheaper when I got mine
The second link is the closest thing to it, but I'm not convinced by those cups or the attachment method.

Ergonomically, I think the protube's angled magnet/cup system would work better than the flat/vertical setup on those (It definitely was vs the printed stock I had before). You'd get used to either after not too long, but still.

'Bendy one' because it allows you to easily adapt your grip angles to any shooter. Only some titles have an adjustable virtual stock, so being able to do it manually is very helpful.

As for the top vs bottom mount... It seems like it makes perfect sense to have it attach at the top because it resembles a real gun, but you may find that pretty fiddly vs the side angle/bottom mount when you're trying to reload quickly under pressure. Again, it's something you could get used to over time.

How do you reload if you can't move the controllers? I don't understand what games in VR would have your hands be locked to a rifle and not interact with it in any other way such as for reloading, selecting your secondary, picking up a grenade etc.

I guess you wouldn't be able to do any of those things if your controllers were locked to the gunstock.
Not sure there are any that lock you in, though. At worst, the basic ones simply let you slip the controller in/out of the cup and the whole thing is just more fiddly.

Ah I see, so it's easy to remove the controllers again? That makes a lot of sense.

My main frustration with rifles in Boneworks is the aiming - you just have your physical hands poised out there with nothing to really stabilise in real life (unless you kneel!). This would resolve that. Though I'd need to get very good at rapidly removing both controllers given you need to switch from firearm to mele/fists so rapidly in most situations.

Yeah, here's an example. Bear in mind that he's only just got it and is still a bit clunky.
You'd get pretty quick and slick at this within a couple of days.

No probs.

Here's a vid of me in action if you wann see how it works in game.

Need to make some new vids, but I don't play enough these days...

EDIT: Even after saying all that, it has to be said that pretty much any gunstock will at least improve your accuracy and speed of target acquisition.
Where they really differ is with ease and speed of reloading, along with physical adjustability.

i think bottom mount is better as ive never in my 15 years firing weapons had one where the grips were above and you also wont need to remove any grips you attach (AMVR/MAMUT)....i like the look of the pro tube as even though its top mount you can adjust the controllers so they are below the stock (another thing that bothers me about the top mounts is how high they are)

i suppose like all things you would get used to it....

i dont care what the things look like.....the one that looks like an actual weapon is pointless....a long stock with controllers magnet connected to the bottom with a basic stock would be ideal.

virtual rifle systems do good ones but again cost over the odds because of all the unneccesary useless crap they attach...same with bulldog controllers (although they seem to be vive/valve only)

ah well...the search continues
