Rift v Vive

What a waste of video that Gizmodo review was. So they made the comments about the space needed to set up the Vive (Which we all know about, if you are going to use it to its fullest capacity) and the extra time it takes, then all we got was a 2min sit down demo of ED and a quick conclusion. :confused:
 
I tried out the viva and oculus at the gadget show at the NEC.

I found the oculus much better than the viva. But since a lot of people with pre-orders on the oculus are having major delays its putting me off getting it.
 
Ive had the DK2 for a while now, the CV1 is arriving Tuesday. Tried out the Vive at Currys. I can honestly say that comparison is plain stupid until the Rift gets its controllers and an extra base station so you can do the walkaround thing and all the same games/experiences are available for both. Until then image quality difference (CV1/Vive > DK2) is barely discernable as is fov. The current major difference is the Vive can do the walkaround thing *now* and its great fun - the painting thing blew my mind, and I would have loved to have tried hover junkers. However, I am a simmer so the CV1 is my obvious choice for now, until the Vive catches up shortly.

If you bought either the Vive or the CV1 you are going to be happy with your choice.

Really enjoyed watching that video, if anything it's made me more excited for VR but at the same time with their conclusion near the end it might be better to wait a couple months where hopefully it will be quicker to get a unit from ordering than the current 2+ month wait.

Hopefully between now and then I might get the opportunity to try them out somewhere.
 
Having spent time in both I think the vive is the best out

In the oculus I banged my head on the desk a good 10+ times and felt sick
The vive had me acting more like a giddy child the immersion was so much better

Oculus is seated and has xbox controller
Vive is standing or seated and controllers are fantasic

I canceled my rift order and will buy the vive tbh
 
If you banged your head on a desk, doesnt that just prove that you should have cleared more space and been, oh I don't know, standing like the setup instructions say?
 
Oh I agree the head bang was my fault no two ways about it but the point was I think the vive is so much better having played with both but that's just my opinion go with what you think is best for you
