Hi

I contacted the pre-sales team, but just wanted to ask other experienced people what they would do. Hopefully you will be able to give a newb some good advice.

So basically i have a budget of about £600.

I want to build a new rig that will be able to play BF4.

If i am able to salvage any of my old rig that would be great so i can spend more on my new rig.

Things i might be able to use from my old rig: (Please let me know if they are any good or can be of use)

VTX HD Sapphire 6770 1GB
296GB Hard Drive with Windows Vista installed
CD/DVD Reader/Burner
850w Sumvision PowerX 3 Pro PSU (non modular)

The computer will almost entirely for gaming (BF4), with some general internet browsing.

Essentials i want from a new rig:

Something that will be able to play the newest games at med/high settings with good FPS.
Something i can add and improve to through time.
A decent MB and CPU (Overclocked if possible).
At least 8GB RAM.
Operating System.

Stuff i would like but not essential:

Colour matching the MB, Cooler and RAM (Red)
Modular PSU
Windowed Case
LED inside (Red)

Regards

Gavin

mmmm that thread you gave is very interesting, i assumed because the AMD stuff is newer it would be better, how hard is it to overclock btw? And the Dev version for windows 8 thats only for 90 days? Will i have to buy it in the long run anyway and if i do will i have to instal everything i use again?

The Windows 8 enterprise will i have to uninstall it and reinstall a proper Windows 8 when the time comes? Or can i just pay for a key and continue using?

Doomed im in 2 minds again now lol I want to order today changing my mind everytime i look

That motherboard doomed is it future proof will it last a few years? And can i overclock with it?

My 1st Build

Hi here is my very 1st build, i really enjoyed it, please feel free to comment :D

Problems encountered:
1) Case delivered the day after everything else even though they were on the same order (not blaming Overclockers it was the couriers fault). Having to stare at all those parts with nothing to put them in was a nightmare lol

2) CPU fan took me the guts of an hour trying to figure out how to get the fan on the heatsink, it turns out to be quite simple as it goes.

3) Assumed my monitor connector would fit the new graphics card na na not that lucky had to test the setup on my TV until i got the DVI-VGA adapter this morning.

4) Cable management ( What a bitch lol)

Here's some pics:

Downloading BF3 and all the additional addons so haven't got to actually play a game yet. Downloading everything i used a lot before aswell.

The FX-8320 seems to only use what it needs in terms of performance currently using 1400 Ghz but rises to 4000Ghz when needed. Is there any way to turn this off that you know off, i think it's some kind of energy saver. I want to overclock it but not not sure how to

No my mistake 8320. No i was just wondering if there would be a time delay in the middle of the game when the resources are increasing, would it cause lagg or stutter? Whats the best why to test performance apart from playing a game?

Look forward to reading it :) Also my DRAM frequency according to CPU-Z is 800 Mhz and Max Bandwidth 800 shouldn't this be 1600Mhz?

Ah i see, i all new to this side of it, i was plug and play up to now :) I will just be happy if i can play BF3 and BF4 with reasonable FPS (I was getting 15-20 tops from my last system with everything on low), if it does that i won't overclock :)

Mixture of Ultra and High mostly Ultra im getting 115+ FPS according to MSI Afterburner, absolutely couldnt be happier, well pleased :) Just out of chance any of you fancy some properly organised BF3, 32 v 32, 8 hours battles, every Saturday, over an 11 week campaign, check out www.21CW.net say BanJaxGav sent ya! :)
