I think my rig has finally given up the ghost. Will not post, hangs on 00, which by looking at error codes is either CPU or Mobo related.

I've done all that I can, take it apart, given it a good clean, tested a different PSU just incase - but its dead.

I have up to £2k to spend, have a decent case and PSU so no need to factor them into the cost. Looking to replace everything else, assuming Zen 3 is the way to go.

Cheers

What are your expectations for the rig?

Do you want to play games on it, if so at what sort of resolution and frame-rate?
Do you intend to use the computer for any work related tasks?
When you say everything else does that mean everything else within the desktop, or do you want a new monitor and peripherals?

Sorry - I could have been more specific.

I'd like to be able to game on it, in an idea world I'd like to be able to push 4k at a decent frame rate but I think thats a pipe dream at my budget. 60 FPS is all my TV / Monitor support anyway - so probably 2560 x 1440 at 60 fps and decent detail settings.

It will be used sparing for work, but thats just pushing numbers around a spreadsheet so no added requirements from that.

Recently replaced the peripherals so really its only the desktop components that matter.

Cheers

That's a very healthy budget for what you need to be honest. While I wouldn't normally recommend something like a 2080ti, it is the fastest option available today and fits very healthily into the amount you have to spend, while managing pretty well at 4K. Here's a rough idea:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,877.03 (includes shipping: £11.10)

You've got leeway with that build as it comes under budget even with a 2080ti, you could double up on the RAM and there's wiggle room for preferred GPU vendors. The mobo listed is one of the best money can buy for modern AMD chips, an excellent 8c16t CPU that should match nicely with the new consoles due to release next year using similar tech. Honestly, you could shave quite a bit of money off and still have an excellent rig without spending close to the 2k mark given you don't need a PSU or case. It's really down to you if you want to push the budget to the limit or not.

Nice one - appreciate you taking the time to do this. Its sort of along the lines I was thinking.

I'd probably drop the 2080Ti and scale it back a bit. Drop a 5700XT in there, add some more RAM and a hybrid CPU cooler I imagine.
