I've got the new Abit IN9 32X MAX 680i SLI motherboard which so far has been great, everything has been working fine. This morning I received my new 74GB Raptors that I am wanting to put in a RAID 0 array. Once I enable the RAID controller in the BIOS and turn on the appropriate ports for RAID, the system will no longer power down when I tell it to shut down. The drives also do not show up in Windows, only the bootable Seagate drive I have shows up. Windows detects the two new drives but can't install them. I know I'm going to be putting the drives in RAID anyway but I'm just curious as to why I'm getting these problems. They show up in the BIOS just fine. All help much appreciated

No idea on the shutdown issue but on the RAID issue have you:
  • Created an array in the RAID BIOS?
  • Installed the drivers for the RAID controller in Windows?
  • Created and formatted a partition on the array?

I've created the array. However, I'm going to be installing Windows on the RAID array. So won't I need the drivers on a floppy? (which didn't come with my motherboard - but I think theres a utility to create the floppy)

Yes, you'll need drivers on a floppy to install on the array (unless you create a custom install disk with nlite). However if you want to access the array in your current Windows install then you'll need to install the drivers in Windows then partition and format the array to give it a drive letter.
