What would you expect to pay for this in a shop pre built, it aint for sale, i just wanted to know what kinda saving I made building...

Coolermaster Haf X case
Coolermaster V8 CPU cooler
Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold 1000W PSU
12GB RAM
Samsung 1TB 7200RPM HD
2 MSI ATI 6950 Crossfire GPUs
Intel i7 950 CPU
DVD RW Lightscripe drive
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

[Edit] Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 mobo

I have not overclocked but since this costs nothing to do then include price if CPU was overclocked to around 4GHz if you wish, just wanna know what kinda saving (if any) i made building this (1st ever build).

I built it cos my crappy HP pavillion had a pentium D and could not support more than 2GB RAM. At present only got 6GB RAM and 1 GPU, but updating to match as ive specd it soon, by the time ive done that without checking reciepts, i think i managed for about £1250.

I started wi a £500/600 budget to build a PC for the sake of it but got carried away lol.

If I could go back I wuld have saved on the CPU and put a i7 920 and OC it, but i built this for learning and i learned :).

Forgot to add my mobo is a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58

The reason for the RAM increase would be as I plan to run virtual servers such as SBS 2011 and virtual OS's (for educational purposes).

Worst look at my pc thread ever!

Seriously tho, nice system. If you've built it recently any reason why you didn't go with Sandy Bridge? Bit overkill on the psu I must say?

To save the thread let's see some pictures and benchmarks.

£1300 system and no ssd?? Why?

This aint really a look at my PC thread, never said it was to be fair but I will post photos when I aint at work

Went with that PSU so I dont really have to worry about replacing it if I add more devices such as more graphics cards etc.

No sandybridge, simply cos Im new to this, although i hear current sandybridge aint a huge step from what I have so i can wait.

No SSD cos Im waiting for prices to drop on larger storage drives (will invest in RAM and crossfire setup for now).

No such thing as overkill with a PSU imo.

Agreed on the SSd though - a MUST-HAVE component at this end.

If he's going to sell it as a pre-build it's overkill to be honest. Anyone who will take interest in the psu spec will most likely want to build their own anyway.

LOLOLOLOL I aint trying to sell this, i took interest in the PSU spec cos i was building my own lol, the reason i posted was to see what kinda saving i made building rather than buying

I dont really understand this thread. Are you trying to see if you have saved yourself money by building it youself or something else. If you really want to no how much you have saved pop down to pc world run your spec off and be prepared for them to come back at you with some stupid figure like £7000 then you can say you have saved loads. If this isent your intention then i dont get it.

O in that case you have probably saved yourself a bit of money because you havent had to pay any one to build it for you. Also you got the exact spec you wanted and no dout gained some invaluable knowledge along the way.

Well a 1000W PSU is overkill. 6950 Crossfires would require at max 750W-800W in a highend overclocked rig. More importantly is the quality of the PSU and Amps on the 12v rail.

ent with that PSU so I dont really have to worry about replacing it if I add more devices such as more graphics cards etc.

Fair enough if you are going to do 3-Way ATI Crossfire with 6950s.

Have you tried flashing the 6950 yet?

Nice system as I said before, an SSD will slot perfectly into that!:p

Just to make you feel better;

CHASSIS COLOUR Alienware AuroraALX Cosmic Black Chassis
PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ i7 Processor 930
OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows® 7 Ultimate 64bit- English
GRAPHICS CARD Dual 2GB AMD Radeon™ HD 6950 CrossfireX
OPTICAL DRIVE 16X DVD+/- RW Optical Drive (DVD & CD read and write)
MEMORY 12GB 1600MHz (6x2GB) Tri Channel Memory

Comes to £3,079.00

Probably would be about £1,500ish from the high street.

Enjoy!:D
