RIG - Performance

Im not sayin in any games im just asking will it run ok and be a good computer thinking of down graden cpu from *** i got but with 2x 8600gts and see how it goes.
 
It is still a decent PC of course but I'd not bother with the 2x8600GTS in SLi, a good single card is almost always better, less hassle and cheaper than 2 mid-range cards which is what you'd have there. Unless you already have them (and that was quick if you do) I'd suggest an 8800GTS instead as being better value for money and without having looked at the figures probably about as fast.
 
I don't really think so, I did just go to try and find a few figures and from the looks of it a single 8800GTS pulls away from a single 8600GTS at high resolutions (as you'd expect) but the problem is SLi doesn't double the performance of the single card so I rather suspect that it would offer no benefit but would be more hassle to set up.

If you are trying to save money then look at it this way, a single 8600GTS is ~£140 on OcUK but a single 320mb 8800GTS is ~£210 or the 640mb 8800GTS is ~£250 so either way the 8800GTS card would cost less than the SLi'd 8600GTSes. :)
